I created Functional Lymphatic Drainage™ because over the years I could see a gap in the education available to practitioners.
On one side were the traditional lymphatic methods; gentle, precise and deeply grounded in lymphatic science.
On the other were the more modern Brazilian approaches; dynamic, flowing and often focused on visible, but temporary, aesthetic outcomes.
After extensive training in both, combined with more than 20 years of clinical experience, it became clear that each approach had something valuable to offer.
But neither reflected the full picture of how I worked in practice. So I created a method that bridges the gap.
Functional Lymphatic Drainage™ combines the anatomical understanding and clinical reasoning of traditional lymphatic work with the adaptability, flow and responsiveness of contemporary techniques.
Rather than teaching a rigid routine, it teaches a way of thinking.
A framework that helps you understand what you're feeling beneath your hands. How the lymphatic system is functioning AND how to adapt your approach to the individual in front of you.
Because while aesthetic outcomes can certainly occur, my focus has always been on something deeper than appearance alone.

Hi, I'm Gwen.
I've been working full-time as a bodyworker for more than 20 years, helping clients navigate swelling, inflammation, lymphatic dysfunction, cancer recovery and complex health challenges.
During that time, I built and ran a busy private practice specialising in remedial massage, manual lymphatic drainage and lymphoedema management.
During the COVID years, I stepped away from private practice to work within a dedicated cancer hospital in Sydney alongside the Physiotherapy team. It was an experience that deepened my understanding of cancer treatment pathways, recovery, surgery, lymphatic health and the many factors that bring people to this work.
Today, I work exclusively in the lymphatic space, helping people living with lymphoedema, lipoedema and a wide range of lymphatic health concerns.
Over the years I've completed more than 235 hours of specialist lymphatic and lymphoedema training through the Dr Vodder International School, the Macquarie University ALERT Program and additional study in a variety of lymphatic approaches, including Brazilian techniques.
Alongside this, my training has included:
